Celebrating Christmas at Coventry’s Food Banks

Coventry is the home of the biggest food bank network in the UK, feeding over 100,000 people, including 40,000 children, in the last seven years. This is just a glimpse of the poverty in Coventry and the volunteers at the food bank want these people to still have a sense of Christmas spirit. I visited the branch at Queen’s Road Baptist Church in the City Centre to see how they are preparing for their busiest time of year.

Hugh McNeill, the Project Manager at Coventry food bank, tells iCov how they are teaming up with the fire service to help people source food packages easier over the winter.

Graham Cartmail, Centre Manager, tells us how they are adding a little bit of Christmas cheer into their food packages and making sure everyone can celebrate Christmas.
