Coventry Blitz VR Project Launches Globally

A joint collaborative project between Coventry University and the Coventry Telegraph have developed a new historical VR game with the use of the Daydream Virtual Reality, developed by Google, which will put players in the eyes of a Coventry firemen.

Placed in the middle of the devastation caused by the infamous Luftwaffe, you will live the day of November 14th, 1940 as you attempt to save the city from disaster, exploring the famous Coventry Cathedral and its surrounding streets.

Funded by the Google Digital News Initiative, aiming to assist developers in bringing new and innovative ways of providing news to a modern age audience, the team led by Coventry University’s BA Journalism Course Director, Bianca Wright, and developed alongside  VR innovator Sarah Jones (Birmingham City University), Developer Sean Graham (Coventry University) and Coventry Telegraph Editor Keith Perry, developed the project to keep the importance of the city’s history entrenched within people’s minds and to challenge the concept of gamification in the news given it’s short time as a modern age concept.

The game is now available on the Android Play Store:
