Coventry’s Age UK, aims to tackle loneliness during Christmas.

Age UK is the country’s largest charity dedicated to helping everyone make the most of later life. With the “over-60s being the fastest-growing group in society”, Age UK aims to help older people through support systems at a national and local level.

Speaking with Coventry’s Age UK, they hope “to improve older people’s quality of life and enable all to live well.”  They achieve this by setting up cohesion between the older residents within Coventry and the rest of its community.

With Christmas approaching, Age UK Coventry has been using the festive period to connect its community. They started this, by introducing “Hampers Campaign”- where people were able to donate food and toiletries for older people living in Coventry. This simple act has been said to make such a difference to the recipients including, last year, Ernie: “I am truly grateful for the gift and can assure you that it brightened my Christmas, and my 90th birthday which occurred just before Christmas”.

For some, Christmas is just another day and Coventry’s Age UK believes that “no one should be alone. Especially at Christmas”. To tackle this narrative, Age UK Coventry has been busy preparing fun and festive activities. Be sure to keep updated via their website and see how you can make a difference:
