Coventry’s new Human Power Station ready to get city-dwellers moving

A new outdoor gym where people can charge their phones is now open to the public.

The exercise centre, where anyone waiting for a train or a taxi can charge their device by riding the bikes available at the site, is one of the first of it’s kind in the UK.

Inspired by a similar concept at Lyon’s train station in France, it opened to the public in November and has been met with acclaim. The power station is part of the ‘West Midlands on the Move’ scheme, introduced to try and get people moving in Coventry and nearby areas.

Joseph Connolly spoke to Dean Hill of the Great Outdoor Gym Company and Simon Hall of West Midlands Combined Authority about the project.
