HomeNEWSGENERALDemocrats vs. Republicans: Explained November 8, 2016 GENERAL, GLOBAL, NEWS Trump by Michael Vadon | Clinton by Gage Skidmore One of the differences between democrats and republicans lies in their views towards social issues. The Republicans tend to be conservative on social issues so for example, they tend to oppose gay marriage and promote marriage being between a man and a woman. They also oppose abortion and promote the right of gun ownership. As some of you may or may not know Donald Trump is a Republican, this might explain why some of his views are very controversial and tend to offend many people especially those belonging to the above communities. The Democrats favour increasing the minimum wage so that Americans have more money with which to purchase goods, They also favour trade restrictions to protect American jobs while Republicans favour free trade in order to keep costs low for consumers and make businesses more profitable so they can grow, there are a lot of differences between them. In simple terms Republicans are far more harsh and controversial in their views (in general) they are predominantly right winged in their views although their views overlap with some of the democratic beliefs. In general however, democrats tend to be more left wing. All of this is up for debate however as a lot of policies overlap and contradict one another. In very simple terms Donald Trump is a Republican and Hillary Clinton is a democrat.
