HomeENTERTAINMENTElderly Discuss Age UK’s New ‘Just Another Day’ Christmas Ad December 15, 2017 ENTERTAINMENT, GENERAL Two elderly ladies talk about Age UK’s Christmas advert ‘Just Another Day’. Christmas Ads in the UK often involve magical creatures, fairy tale like stories and unrealistic expectation. Age UK this year decided to take an alternative route to the cliche Crimbo ads and bring to light a very real issue over the festive season, the elderly alone at Christmas. The charity stated that loneliness can be as harmful to our health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. With more than 1.2 million elderly people in England being chronically lonely, 1.4 million people also admitted that Christmas day passes them by just like any other. Upon hearing this, Age UK decided to take a stance. We spoke to local elderly citizens Phyllis and Joan, to find out what they had to say on the campaign, and whether they think elderly loneliness is an issue that needs to be brought to light.
