Police in the UK can now find out if someone has a violent past.

A new scheme called Clare’s Law is being launched on Monday 10th March. The scheme is named after Clare Wood who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend. She met him on Facebook and did not know about his history of violence against other women, and with Clare’s Law people are allowed to go to the police and find out what their partners pasts are like.

This could possibly decrease the numbers of domestic violence attacks in the UK and also help the lives and safety of people.

If anyone is concerned about their partner or anyone in the same situation, please go to your nearest police station or call 101.
