HomeHEALTH & FITNESSMetal discovered to kill cancer cells at Warwick University February 14, 2017 HEALTH & FITNESS, LOCAL, NATIONAL Scientists from Warwick University have discovered a new metal which can kill more cancer cells than the current treatment metal Platinum Compound. It is believed by experts at the university that the new discovery of the organo-metal FY26 is 50 times more powerful than the current cancer drug of Cisplatin. Scientists used ovarian cancer cells to discover if they were able to see if the FY26 would position itself in the cell and attack and destroy its crucial functions properly. Natural metals produced by the body such as calcium helped the newly discovered FY26 to reach optimal position of the cancer cells. The current drug Cisplatin is not as selective between normal cells and cancer cells, which is why this new discovery could be pivotal in the defeating the disease.
