Prague: Our resident blogger on adventure Day 1

We’ve sent our resident blogger and reporter Raisa Ismail on an adventure to Prague (Czech Republic) for 8 days with Coventry University Media Production students. Let’s see how it goes.

Day 1

So its day 1 here (Monday the 15th) and we have had a pretty relaxing day. Many of us didn’t sleep all of last night because our coach left Coventry for the airport at 3am. We arrived in Prague around 12pm local time, which would be 11am in the UK. The coach took us straight to the hotel and once we all shuffled into our rooms we went out to explore.

I strayed from the group to meet my work placement boss. I got there fine but unfortunately he wasn’t there so I had to wait until the next day.

So, at about 5pm I was on my way back to joining the group and followed the directions given to me to go a ‘yellow pub’ near Charles Bridge where we were all to have dinner together. I went to Charles Bridge. There was no yellow pub. I was lost.

Having had 3 hours sleep the night before, a tiring journey, and no food from 9am I started panicking a bit about being alone in a city and having no Wi-Fi on my phone I didn’t know how to contact other members of the group.

So I walked around a bit more, and a bit more, and a bit more. An hour later I was exhausted and hungry as hell. At this point I was lost and way of point. I asked for directions and finally found my way back to a familiar street.

I opted for a noodle bar located on one of the streets and sat there eating my pad thai noodles. I did find it odd eating noodles in the capital of the Czech Republic, but oh well! I was just hungry and grateful for some food.

Soon after I decided to head back and get some well-needed rest. As I was walked back I heard some English voices and turned…just my luck! I had found half of the group and walked back with some much needed company.

That completes my tour of day 1 in Prague. I will keep you updated on my adventure.
