One of Coventry’s beloved eateries, Spangles American Diner, closed it’s doors for the final time in the city after confirming their final day of trade was the 7th of January.

The diner that originally opened it’s doors in Leamington Spa relocated to Coventry in 2015 and was an instantaneous Fargo Village favourite. It seems however that all hope is not lost for fans of the diner as they’re setting off on a new venture sooner than people may expect. The diner is closed but the business is setting back up as a tea room in Leamington Spa, taking the business back to where it all started.

I spoke to Aaron Horne, a coventry local and fan of the diner, he said “I’m pretty gutted that the diner’s gone but at least I can still visit their Leamington store. It won’t be the same though as I only work on the other side of Gosforth park I regularly pop in for a snack and a drink on my break.”.

Another frequent visitor Dominic Dunn said “I already really enjoyed the existing tea parties that were hosted at the diner, I drive so I really don’t mind the relocation. I’ll have to look when they’re putting them on again and take my nephew.”

The tea room have since said that they will disclose the location of their new premises once it’s open. However, they already have a number of events listed for fans to get excited about, these include; Beauty & the beast afternoon tea, a jungle book jungle tea party and a Lady & The Tramp Valentines movie and meal for those seeking relaxation and romance.

It may seem like the end of an era for the popular diner but it’s only the beginning in their next endeavour. We wish the award winning owners the best of luck as they return back to Leamington and we cannot wait to see what they do with their new space. Maybe we’ll see one of you at their next event.
