HomeNEWSLOCALThe Prophets meet Godiva May 29, 2014 LOCAL, MUSIC Dylan O’Regan Female-fronted rock band, The Prophets, came out tops this past Saturday at the Kasbah Nightclub’s Godiva Calling event, a battle of the bands that gives unsigned acts from the Coventry area the opportunity to showcase their music with the possible chance of performing live at Coventry’s Godiva Festival. The competition is judged by the public as well as a set of judges from the Festival. As the winner of Godiva Calling, The Prophets will play the main stage, while the runner up will play in the festival’s rhythm tent. This year the runner up spot went to folk rock band Spooky Wagons. The Godiva Festival takes place in July at Coventry’s War Memorial park. Entry is free. Headline act this year include Funeral for a Friend, We Are Scientists and the Buzzcocks.
