Tim Sherwood announced as Swindon Town Director of Football

sherwoodLeague One club Swindon Town have announced that Tim Sherwood has been appointed as the club’s Director Of Football.

The announcement came amid a media circus where the scheduled press conference was rumoured to be about a potential takeover from energy drink giants Red Bull.

Club chairman Lee Power, who has confirmed that Sherwood is not under contract and “isn’t doing it for the money”, made the announcement.

Sherwood himself stated he had other offers but the role at Swindon was an “interesting prospect” and one he looks forward to taking on.

Sherwood added that he started his new role this morning and will remain in the stands unless things aren’t going well, then he’ll be “down there”.

Sherwood will be in charge of transfers and taking charge of the team. One of his key changes is to bring more experienced players into the squad to help nurture the younger talent.

The move has excited chairman Power, who has hailed it as the biggest appointment the club has made in a long, long time.
