You’ll never guess who’s headlining Wireless Festival

Chase & Status and Calvin Harris have been confirmed as headliners of the three-day festival in London this July. But did anyone expect this act to be closing the festival on the Sunday?

Boy Better Know are set to headline the festival in Finsbury Park, London, on 8th July, it has been announced. The group, which was set up by grime artists JME and Skepta, have previously played the festival individually and have appeared a few times at Reading & Leeds.

The grime scene has blown up particularly in the last eighteen months, and the Internet went mad last month when it was announced that Canadian superstar Drake signed to the BBK label. This itself (as written on iCov) was a perfect example of how grime is set to go worldwide and is so exciting that artists from the Americas are determined to work with them.

It’s clear from this headline announcement that there are even more reasons to realise that grime is arguably one of the UK’s biggest music exports right now, and every reason to support it. Wireless was a festival that, last year, was gatecrashed by fans during Lethal Bizzle’s set (watch here) and saw Drake bring out Skepta for a performance of Shutdown that could be seen as the birth of something beautiful (especially when he’s signed to BBK less than a year later).

You never know – maybe Drake could perform with them this year…

The full Wireless lineup so far includes The 1975, Craig David, Big Narstie, Jess Glynne and Martin Garrix. Tickets are on sale Friday at 9am.
